“What is travel insurance and do I need it?” As a travel professional, I am asked this question quite often when working with clients who are booking vacations, honeymoons or adventures. Look at it this way; travels can cost thousands of dollars and since you already understand the need to protect your home, cars, and other valuables from loss or damage, why wouldn’t you also want to protect your travel investment? Some of the benefits of purchasing travel insurance coverage include:
Another point to consider is that travel insurance can cover more than just your travel investment. Did you know that many health insurance plans do not cover medical expenses incurred outside the USA (to know for sure, check with your policy holder)? Coverage options for travel insurance can include:
Every policy is different, so be sure to review the inclusions of the selected policy and its coverage amounts. Most companies offer varying plans and price points to provide you the coverage you desire.
I recommend travel insurance to all my clients and recognize the importance of protecting travel investments, medical costs and personal belongings. When you book your vacation with me, I will give you an insurance quote and the plan document for you to review. If you choose to purchase insurance the premium will be due at the time of your trip deposit. All insurance premiums are non-refundable in the event of a cancellation.
Disclaimer: I am not an insurance agent and I cannot give you advice on insurance policies. Also, all insurance companies and policies are different so be sure to check your plan for inclusions and covered benefits.
